Sunday Reflections

This morning we woke up to cloudy and overcast skies following an afternoon, evening and night of on and off again rains. There was a crisp coolness to the air and it seemed like the perfect morning for a hike. I had clues for a letterbox planted by HighDesertGlider and thought it would be a good thing to do this morning. So after some coffee and a little breakfast Thomas and I set out. Our destination was a trail that is part of the Eldorado's Community Preserve. We found the trailhead easy enough and there were already three cars in the lot. Surprisingly enough we didn't see a single person during the entire hike. The trail we were hiking was about three quarters of a mile one way and had an elevation gain of about five hundred feet. It was pretty much a steady climb uphill - not many level areas as you made your way up. But it was worth it, the views are spectacular. You can see some of Santa Fe, the Cerrillos Hills, the Sandias - it was just incredible. Once we arrived at the summit I took quite a few pictures and then focused on finding the box. The box is called Reflections and HDG said in the clues that the spot is a great place to relax, read a book and REFLECT :-) and he was absolutely right. After stamping in and getting the box back into its hiding spot Thomas and I sat on the rocks and just talked and stared out at the views. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning - a great hike, spectacular views and a wonderfully carved stamp in a nice letterbox.

Yay for you two! You guys looks so relaxed surrounded by all that beautiful nature.
Another great day letterboxing, too.

We had plans to find the Cerillos boxes on Saturday morning, but that huge storm came blowing in.

Some of our windows even leaked because the wind was pelting the rain in sideways. Gah!
