. . . One Month Later

It has been one month since I found my last letterbox, more accurately it has been one month since I was actually able to get out and letterbox. Here in Santa Fe it has been too cold and snowy to be out hunting letterboxes. So when Astro D suggested an outing to Albuquerque I was excited. A new box was placed on January 13 and it really needed to be found. Also, south of Albuquerque in Bernardo lies the Dormant Dragon. This box eluded me the first time I made the trip out there - so another try was in order.

Astro D and I met at nine o'clock this morning and headed to Albuquerque. We made it to Paradise Hills and easily found the park that held Rosche's Little Affair. After a few minutes of searching we found the box. Since there was still a chill in the air we opted to sit in the car to stamp in. Once we were done stamping and the box was safely hidden again we were off to Bernardo. It was about an hour's drive to the place where we were to search for the Dormant Dragon. We spent about 15 minutes hunting for the box and no luck, we decided to have a little lunch and sit and relax for a bit. After our snack we started searching again - we read and reread the clues, searched and researched the area. Sadly to say we came away empty handed. Not sure about the whole ordeal - the box could be there and we just didn't find it or it is gone. We may never know, there were too many ifs about the clues and the area. But we had a great time and I guess that is what really matters.

Since I haven't been able to get out and box I have joined a couple of postal rings - just to have something to do with letterboxing. I joined Friends Carving Friends with Astro D. That stamp is carved and I need to make the logbook and it will be ready. I am also working on the State Insect Ring. I have the image and it is ready to carve. It may have to wait for a week or so. On Thursday of this week I am heading to a warmer climate. I am heading to Tucson for a gathering and some letterboxing. I will make sure to write about that adventure in the blog. When I return to Santa Fe after the event we are having an impromptu gathering with artTrekker - dinner at a local restaurant with local boxers.

Now I need to get some clues organized for the trip to Arizona. In November of last year I was in Phoenix and found some great boxes so I am looking forward to finding more of the same on this trip - I will write more soon.

It was so nice to be able to get in some letterboxing today - I think I was getting close to withdrawls or something similar. I am really looking forward to my trip to Arizona.

Hey- when you first suggested that I take a look at that Friends Carving Friends Postal ring, I thought I was going to have to carve a portrait of you (like that Lyle Lovett stamp)! Thank goodness that was not the case.
See you soon-
