Cold Weather Letterboxing
A couple of new letterboxes showed up a few days ago and I printed out the clues thinking that I would go and find them on Sunday. But it was cold and I didn't want to leave the house - so I put them aside. Yesterday I had a few appointments and didn't have time to go and look for them. Today I had errands to run and I was able to find some time to do a little letterboxing as well. So I gathered all my stuff for the day and hit the road.
I headed south on I25 and took the Cochiti exit. Just a short distance from the interstate there is an historic marker for La Bajada Hill. I pull into the turnout and parked. I read the clues while sitting in the car (it is still very cold) and when I felt I had located the spot and the coast was clear I ran out and grabbed the box and then returned with it to my car. I decided I wanted to be warm while I stamped in to the New La Bajada Hill letterbox. I was the first finder of the box and quickly stamped in. When I was done and had the box back together I waited for a couple of cars to pass and then ran and put the box back into place. This is a small magnetic box with a great little stamp - thanks ArnoldZiffel and Agent 86. Once the box was back in place I made my way back to I25 and headed back north. Just at the top of La Bajada I took the Waldo Canyon exit. I drove for about a mile and found the area I needed for the second box of the day. I parked and looked at the clues (which are pictures) and easily found the box. Again I grabbed it and went back to the car to stamp in. This box is called Where's Waldo (get it - Waldo Canyon - Where's Waldo) and was placed by BirchMoon. A nice little stamp of Waldo and again I was the first finder. I put the box back in its hiding spot and returned to the car. It was a nice morning of letterboxing even though the car told me it was 15 degrees outside. Stamping into the boxes while sitting in the car definitely made it more enjoyable. Thanks for planting these boxes guys - I really enjoyed them.
